About me
I believe your mental health matters, and sometimes all it takes is a caring professional to support you in navigating life’s challenges and achieving your personal goals. I have found this to be true in my own journey. Growth doesn’t happen in isolation and connection is at the heart of my work.
I graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies, driven by a desire to help individuals reach their highest potential. This led me to Northern Illinois University, where I earned a Master of Science in Education in School Counseling. Since then, I have had the privilege of working as a High School Counselor, where I have been able to guide and support students in overcoming challenges and fostering their personal growth.
Throughout my career, I have supported adolescents and families through life’s challenges, including academic pressures, social concerns, emotional struggles, and general life stressors. Seeking therapy can be intimidating, but it’s an important act of courage and self-care. I am intentional about providing a safe, collaborative environment that focuses on client strengths and incremental, obtainable goals. My approach includes strategies tailored to each client’s unique needs, drawing from Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Areas of Focus
ADHD
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, impacts a person’s ability to focus, control impulses, and regulate their energy levels. I have extensive experience working with individuals to manage their symptoms of ADHD by taking a strengths-based approach, providing psychoeducation, and working to create obtainable goals and lasting habits.
Anxiety
Anxiety is a feeling of unease, worry, or fear, often about something that might happen in the future. It can range from mild unease to severe distress. Anxiety is a normal and natural response to stress, but can sometimes become persistent, overwhelming, and interfere with daily activities. I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where we can work together to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and develop effective coping skills.
Parental Support
Raising children can be one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences. I offer support to parents by strengthening communication skills, providing practical strategies, and promoting their personal well-being. My goal is to empower parents to build healthier relationships while nurturing their own growth.
School Success
I specialize in supporting students to achieve success in the academic setting by addressing both the emotional and practical challenges that may hinder their performance. I have a strong understanding of educational policies and structures, enabling me to effectively navigate and maximize resources for students. My approach combines personalized strategies, collaboration with educators and families, and a commitment to empowering students to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.
Life Transition
With my experience as a school counselor, I have had the unique opportunity to advise young adults on future planning, including academic and career opportunities. I understand that navigating these decisions can often feel overwhelming and stressful. We will work together within a supportive environment to navigate changes with greater clarity, resilience, and confidence.
